Evelyn Garcia ’06 is the teaching kitchen chef at the Lenox Hill Neighborhood House. She is also a first generation Mexican American, a native of Newburgh, NY, and a ’06 graduate of The Culinary Institute of America. The Lenox Hill Teaching Kitchen is an award-winning training facility and program that helps nonprofits and schools to serve more fresh, healthy, and local food without raising costs. To date, the teaching kitchen has trained 600+ staff from over 250 nonprofits and schools serving 20 million meals annually. A native Spanish speaker, Chef Garcia spearheads translating all programs and materials for Spanish-speaking participants. Chef Garcia’s culinary roles include being a chef at the 21 Club, a food stylist for the Food Network, Martha Stewart Living and the Cooking Channel, and as a culinary educator for various food policy nonprofits in the Hudson Valley. Honored as an NYC Food Policy Center Rising Star-40 under 40 in 2019, she also serves on the board of Common Ground Farm. (New York, NY)
