Katie Wilson, PhD, SNS is executive director of the Urban School Food Alliance. Dr. Wilson has dedicated her career to school nutrition. Prior to joining the Urban School Food Alliance, she spent twenty-three years as a school nutrition director, five years as executive director for the Institute of Child Nutrition, and two years as deputy under secretary of food, nutrition, and consumer services at USDA, appointed by President Obama. Dr. Wilson has shared her expertise throughout the US and internationally, including serving on the thirty-first Standing Committee on Nutrition at the United Nations and is on the Board of Directors for the international group, Eating City. Dr. Wilson holds a bachelor’s degree in dietetics, a master’s degree in food science and nutrition, and a PhD in foodservice and lodging management. She has many peer-nominated awards, including The Dr. Katie Wilson Lifetime Achievement Award, and is considered one of the top experts in the field of child nutrition. (Washington, DC)
