Lauren Horning

Director of Local Sourcing and Sustainability, FreshPoint; Raleigh, NC

Lauren Horning is director of local sourcing and sustainability at FreshPoint, the fresh produce arm of Sysco, the world’s largest broadline food distributor. Growing up on a hobby farm in central Pennsylvania inspired Lauren’s passion for supporting local farms and food sustainability. Looking to gain her own farming experience, she worked on two organic farms in Argentina, followed by an urban farm in Pittsburgh, PA. She graduated from Washington and Jefferson College with a dual degree in Environmental Studies and Spanish. In 2016, she began building the Local Program for FreshPoint Carolinas, growing from supporting 30 farmers to over 100 local farmers and artisans. In 2022, she began leading FreshPoint’s Local Program at the national level in addition to leading the Future of Food transition at Sysco with a focus on regenerative agriculture, indoor farming and local sourcing.
