Tariq Sheriff, MPH, is a Food Systems expert working on business development and strategy in the Deputy Mayor’s office in Washington DC. He spearheads the creation and implementation of programs and strategies that increase amenity-rich neighborhoods to address inequitable food access. Prior, Tariq worked on DC’s Food Policy Team and was responsible for shaping policy and international agreements and served as an advisor for food system resiliency to the Food Policy Director. As a former chef, Tariq led the kitchen operations at DC Central Kitchen which created 6000 daily meals for public schools, shelters, and childcare centers. He also works as a consultant supporting sustainable solutions for Fortune 500 companies. Tariq serves on the DC’s Food Policy Council, the DC Good Food Purchasing Coalition and is an Aspen Institute Food Leaders Fellow. Tariq holds a Master of Public Health degree from George Washington University, and degrees from Johnson & Wales and Rutgers Universities.
